Monochrome Card..the Blues

Blog hops are so much fun

I love the colors of Stampin Up!, I love the Blues most of all. The Night of Navy is my go to and favorite color, second is a blue called Misty Moonlight, a in color for 2020-2022. Misty Moonlight will be retired in a few months. I have added several packs to my cardstock over the past two years, because once it retires in April or when it runs out, will no longer be available.

I had to make a special birthday card for my nephew. He always appreciates my cards, even though he is in his late 20’s, he loves cards. His Mom taught him well. His Mom, my twin, passed in 2014 from a brain bleed, I do everything I can to make his birthday special. We will have pizza later today to celebrate….I have not seen him Much and in 2000, I sent his card by mail….it took 2 weeks to arrive and we live in the same town.

Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy, my go to colors. The DSP Designer Series Paper is NEW HORIZONS.

I believe you call this a Z-fold card.. as shown below

Card base for Z-fold card

I used the rectangular stitch dies for “You make me SMILE”. I was there the day he was born, he always makes me smile when I see him. The saying comes from Calming Camellia, a set only earned by purchasing $300.00 or having a group sell of $300.00 or more…worth the effort.

Redtangle Stitch Dies are a must have to create beautiful cards

Valentine Love

So happy to be apart of this blog hop. I love Valentine’s day…….. why? First my folks were Married on Valentines Day in 1942….Yes….80 years ago. Sadly, they have passed but they made 63 years together. Than the day after Valentines day is my Birthday…which I share with my twin sister (sadly she passed in 2014), but added extra, My sister and I were born on my brothers 5th Birthday. In the pass, we had alot of get togethers, no so much anymore but the memories linger.

I love this new bundle, Love and Happiness. The stamp set, die with embossing folder and bundle sell quickly. I ordered mine just before they were sold out, but they are back in stock… When items are not available, they do not do back orders anymore, they just bring the item back when available, then you can order

watercolor paper I love

I used it in different ways.

I did a insert in this style of the water color paper….looks great as is… simple and sweet.

This is using the water color paper as a backdrop with no embossing, perfect for lettering or wording.

I cut it a bit bigger than the 4″ x 5-1/4″ to give a nice border and than added to the card base. Yes, I used glue, the embossing is deep but press down and let dry.

This is from the stamp set, I held my breath to stamp and it worked without any smears…..

The above is for my 90 year old Aunt. The 90 and wording are from a retired set, number of years, but I wanted to show, this embossing folder and dies are not just Valentines Day or Marriage…. Truly a beautiful set to have and use again and again.

Creating This and That

This is my desk right now…yep, messy, messy. I have so many projects going at once. That is OK cause it is blowing snow and snowing hard….yep…winter in Michigan.

New DSP (Designer series Paper)

The above paper is my go to….yes, it is watercolor looking with backgrounds, it is being used in so many ways.

These two stamp sets are available until the end of February 2022. They are apart of Sale e bration, you can get them free with a $50.00 purchases…..they are my go tos. I have many cards to make.

I have not been busy putting creations up, things hit home and you just say. OK. I have sent out many cards to friends who are ill, feeling blue cause of the bad weather and Covid. Now, many do not want to talk about Covid, but it has hit here hard in our town. I am blessed, it is not hit our home but has come very close. Wear the mask and Yes, get vacinnated and boosted.

I miss so many things, so I have dwelled in making cards, some with old stamps and some with new.

I first state the stamp, yes, I do this lots of times…just to give an idea.

So, I did it, and gave a smear…yep it happens…OK, let fix it

Yes, I made it worse with more trys…..but finally, I had one and cut it out and put over the smear….

I cut the paper to 4″ x 5-1/4″ for card front, then added the overlay to cover the ink spot. Notice, I also color the tires black. One van is up higher than the other….no big deal…bother are ok.

Last Day of 2021

Yes, the days of 2021 are coming to an end…praying your 2021 was better than what I was dealt with.

January, started with Aunt very ill with Covid, she pulled through…thank you God. February, March, still went no where cause of Covid. March I was able to get my first vaccine. April, May, June…made it through…things looking up. July, eek….Aunt Fell broke jaw, so I stayed with her several weeks….she lived out of town and I was away from Husband and my sweet dog…oh, no fun. August, I had a infusion for Osteoporosis and it helped. That same day, my brother was in hospital but I could not see him cause of Covid restrictions….no he did not have Covid, just limited 2 visitors a day. Two days later, he passed, it was heart breaking, totally sad and it shook me to my core. At this time, I did not go to funeral cause I was still helping Aunt out and did not want to infect here with Covid Virus if I came in contact at church. Oh ya, I have not been to church but to my brother’s showing (where my husband and I and two others only had masks on……hence, why I did not go to funeral). September came, was to have knee replacement, could not cause I had a tooth issue…got than done…delayed surgery. Finally October 13th, surgery date, well was moved from Original hospital out of town cause Hospital filled with Covid Patients. Surgery done, recooped and now December and doing better. Ending the year praying 2022 better.

So, that is why I was limited on my postings, WoW, never a boring moment for this old lady. Yes, I am not young but I am still enjoying life. Yes, I love to create, creating is a life style, brings joy to yourself and others… matter how things get bad.

Yes, I knit, Sew, Quilt and lots of paper crafting. This is why I am so thankful for Stampin’ Up!…..the days of 2020 and 2021 have been many days of staying home…… Yes, I take precautions, so that is why no in person classes. As I write this, our hospital is so full, it is a big hospital and they are adding 39 beds….Can not get sick. I will be doing more videos this year and some card classes by mail…..

so what have I been doing…..lots of card making…below are some samples.

Many Sympathy cards this year… sad….so hard to make

First Post December, Where Ya Been?

Yep, been a while. I am 10 weeks out from Knee replacement….no fun but so happy it has been done. I waited for over a year….2020 was a wash and cancelled like so many things. 2021, I had to wait, September I had to cancel cause of Teeth problems, than finally October it was done! Long story of it move to another hospital cause of Covid and than I was sent home the same day. My husband is a saint.

Ok….now about the card shown. It is from the Peaceful Cabin Stamp set….sadly it is not available any longer….it was retired and sold out! Yikes.. but good news, new Catalog with amazing items coming…

The card has die cuts of cabin and trees…the deer are from Snow Front, retired last year…

OK, the trees and Merry Christmas which is base of card, is a card from the dollar store. Yes, I cheated or you can same I worked smarter, not harder? Do you like it……

Yes, when in a pinch, glam up a card with designer series paper (dsp) or die cuts… and it is appreciated……

I will be here more in 2022….another year of uncertainty with the news of new strain…. This is why I love stamping and creating, truly makes me a happy person and I am always in a better state of mine.

Go create something!

Post It Note Christmas

Oh what fun! These post a note holders make a lovely gift for family, friends and co-workers.

I begin by making a base out of card stock. You can use odds and ends of scraps.

I first make the bases, they are 3-1/2″ x 9″ Card Stock

I score the Base at 2-1/4″ and 4-1/2″

The Face of the Post-it holder is 3-1/4″ x 4-1/4″. This area is where I stamp images or I use DSP (designer series paper)

The paper I used is

Another Card Stock layer is 3-1/2″ x 4-1/2″…..You lay the face (3-/14″ x 4-/14″) on top of this

Side View of Post it Note

Add a 3″ x 3″ post-it notes to bottom. I use glue.

I love this stamp set, it is called Peaceful Cabin, it came out this year for the Holiday catalog…..Love it cause you can use it for so many cards besides the Holidays.

Hope you enjoyed this little gift you can make……I make them all year long. Always a welcome gift.
